CycleBar: Fitness, Family, & Fun!

Fitness_Studios_in_Naples.jpg

Ever wonder what it’s like to take a class at CycleBar? If you’re like us, you’ve walked past it while heading to a happy hour in Mercato and heard the club-like music pumping from the studio and thought “Wow, that looks like so much fun!” So why haven’t you tried it? Like trying anything new, it’s human nature to be nervous, so we spent an evening at CycleBar to bring you an insider’s look on what it’s like in this new Naples studio. You’ll hear from the owners, instructors, ambassadors, and both seasoned and new riders about why they love CycleBar and why you should come in for a ride ASAP.

Jake, Owner/Instructor of CycleBar

Ever had that “I feel like a truck just hit me” experience after a great workout? Jake knows the feeling, which is why he is passionate about indoor cycling. While it is a high-intensity form of exercise, it is low-impact on your body, meaning that you can get your sweat on and still be able to get out of bed the next day! So what makes CycleBar unique? Jake wanted CycleBar to be more than riding a stationary bike in the dark, so he injected every class with an atmosphere of good music, great choreography, and passionate instructors. The result? A 45-minute party that will leave you on a high long after the class has ended. Scared to try CycleBar? Jake says to “Do it scared because you’re not going to be scared for very long.”

Holly, Owner/Instructor of CycleBar and Heather, CycleBar Rider

Holly and Heather are perfect examples of the community that has been created at CycleBar. Not only do they ride together, but they also bowl together, brunch together, and even dance together. As Heather says, “you come for the exercise but you leave with a community.” In addition to having fun together, the CycleBar community prioritizes giving back to the Naples community! Every Monday, they pick up a pup from Humane Society Naples and showcase them in the studio as well as throughout Mercato in the hopes of finding them a forever home! That’s how they met and later adopted Scooby (now Rider)! They also collected items for the Bahamas following the hurricane and regularly partner with other businesses, along with other fitness studios!

In addition to owning CycleBar, Holly recently became an instructor! She shared that she was drawn to taking this next step by again, the community of CycleBar! She loved cycling alongside everyone so much so that it inspired her to teach. So what is her favorite song to incorporate into her ride? A Frankie Steel Remix of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics.

Alexa, Lead CycleStar/Instructor

This boss mom of two littles and native to Naples has an overwhelming passion for fitness and CycleBar! In addition to being an instructor, Alexa is also a full-time personal trainer in Downtown Naples! Her mission is to show people that goals are attainable and that fitness can be fun! Scared to try CycleBar? Alexa says “It’s an all-levels, all-skills environment and that you don’t need to know anything to get started!”

Brandi, CycleBar Brand Ambassador

So what is a Brand Ambassador? It means that you love riding and that you love CycleBar. Brandi spends her time promoting CycleBar to her friends, family, and community and always makes sure she’s there to welcome riders and to answer questions! She was one of the first to welcome us when we arrived and her energy was contagious! Scared to try CycleBar? Brandi says “she was scared at first, but the second you hear the music and the lights go down, there is no judgment! You’re dripping sweat but so is everyone else!”

To hear more about why Brandi loves to promote CycleBar, watch the full conversation below!

Shawn, CycleBar Rider

Shawn has only been a member of CycleBar for a week but almost immediately upgraded his membership from 4 rides/month to unlimited! Shawn shared that he was an avid runner and how it wore on his body, which is why he loves CycleBar and how it keeps him in shape but “doesn’t hurt”. He said that it’s “awesome to do a full-throttle, adrenaline workout but not be in pain!” Scared to try CycleBar? Shawn says to “overcome your fear” and “just try it!”

Jacob and Stephen, CycleBar Riders

We caught these two after class and asked them what they love most about cycling. For Stephen, cycling provides with him a whole-body experience and a 45-minute escape where he can get into the zone and get lost in the music and atmosphere. For Jacob, it’s about being able to do whatever he wants for that day. Whether it’s working on a specific part of his body or just dancing, cycling provides him with that flexibility! What is the hardest part of cycling? For Jacob, it’s digging deep and mentally pushing himself. For Stephen, it’s about being prepared. Scared to try CycleBar? Jacob says to “Come with an open mind, be 100% yourself, and we’ll take it from there.” Stephen says to “Show up a little early so that the CycleBar staff can get you set up and familiar with the studio.”

Finally, if you’re wondering what “Tap It Back” means like I was, Jacob was kind enough to define it for us! To hear what it is and more from these two riders, watch the full conversation below!

Jonathan, CycleBar Rider

Finally, we interviewed Jonathan, a rider and studio assistant, who also eagerly greeted us when we arrived. Because of how he welcomed us and helped us get organized, I knew that he would be a great person to ask this question to… Scared to try CycleBar? Jonathan says “That it’s a lot of fun and you have to come to try it out.”

Ann Marie, CycleBar Rider

Finally, we sat down and spoke with Ann Marie, who is also an avid indoor cyclist and fitness professional. Within a couple of minutes of our conversation, she became my new fitness inspiration as she had just accomplished three cycling classes and a waitlist session all in one day! What had I done in terms of fitness that day, you ask? I ran a whole mile… LOL!

Because she is a fitness professional, she was full of great advice for new cyclists. The best piece of advice that spoke to me was to first focus on your form and not your performance or rank in the class! Scared to try CycleBar? Anne Marie says “Trying anything new can be scary; but think back to when you had your training wheels taken off, how free and accomplished did you feel?”

At the end of the night, as we sat outside with the owners, Jake and Holly (and their new pup), they reflected on how honored they are to have had the opportunity to open CycleBar, but they wouldn’t take any credit for the community that had been created. They attribute this continuously growing family to those that show up every day committed to ride, to support one another and to have fun. Their hopes for CycleBar, as it approaches their one-year anniversary and beyond, is that it will continue to grow and thrive and to have a positive impact on Naples as a whole.

If you’re looking to improve your fitness or if you’re just looking for a community of positive, supportive people, we strongly encourage you to give CycleBar a try. We can guarantee you will be welcomed, you will sweat, and you will leave with at least a friend or two that are looking forward to you coming back again. Depending on the day, you might even see us!
